lead [li:d or led]. li:d (verb/noun) – to guide someone or something from in front, or to control a group of people; the person at the front, also the main part in a play or film; also the plastic-coated wire connecting electrical equipment to the electricity supply. led (noun) – the element with the chemical symbol Pb (from the Latin plumbum) or the material in the centre of a pencil. Of course, to confuse everyone there is also the homophone led [led] which is the past tense of the verb lead.
